i must say i don’t know much about babies being an adult physician but the methods this guy is preaching appear pretty scary. he rocks the baby back and forth pretty vigorously, yells in their ears—not sure if anyone’s done any long term studies to see if these methods are really safe. even if in his hands they are okay, in hands of layman these methods could potentially harm the baby.

Lame! This book may be ok for a ‘normal’ baby…but if you have a baby who actually has medical problems this won’t work! I didn’t like that it made it sound like all babies should be ‘fixed’ by these solutions or refer you to your physician if the problem continues. My baby has reflux so these tecniques only made him angrier and made me feel like a failure as a new parent for not being able to calm my baby.

The video quality is so bad. The picture keeps on turning bright and dark. Totally annoying. For the advice given in the video, don’t know about other people, it just doesn’t work for my baby.

I enjoyed this video. Most of the techniques seemed reasonable to perform. However, I am hesitant on the shushing technique. The author states that you need to shush just as loud as they are crying, if not louder, to get the baby’s attention. What concerns me is the fact that the baby’s ears are probably very delicate and sensitive to sound. What if I put some headphones on you and turned up the volume to max on the radio? I’m sure you would stop crying too because of being so distracted and confused by this loud obnoxious noise. Not to mention the fact that people might be damaging the hearing capacity of the newborn infant. As a brand new parent, I want to err on the side of caution. It is better safe than sorry. You have no idea how much damage you could be causing to the eardrum.
Other than that, I did enjoy the video and we have used some of the techniques. However, I do not shush my baby by blowing forcefully into his ear and making a loud racket. How obnoxious that would be if somebody did that to me, I would smack them!

We could not wait to watch this DVD since we were expecting our first child. First of all, the DVD recommended wrapping the baby in a blanket, this is nothing new, so is buying and using a swing. The only new technique was doing the “shshshshshshsh” sound right to the baby’s ear. At first it worked for a few seconds, then baby cried more. I wish I could return this DVD and get my money back.
